SingMe Merseyisde at Riversdale Care Home

Santa and a rather tall elf gave us a warm welcome to Carr Farm in Meols where we performed for their lights switch on event. Over 50 SingMe singers entertained the onlookers at this appearance which also helped to raise money for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity. Elspeth and the volunteers from the charity did a great job and it was wonderful to also be working alongside Wirral Radio once again. The SingMe Merseyside Choir did us proud again and had the audeince singing along to some Christmas favourites. Don't worry if you have missed these first festive events - there are plenty more to come! Take a look at our performance dates to come and get into the Christmas spirit with SingMe Merseyside!

SingMe Merseyside were touched to be invited along to sing a collection of songs and medleys for SingMe Wallasey member, Elaine, and her husband Alec during their wedding vow renewal.

SingMe Merseyside is very much looking forward to performing at this event especially when we will be working alongside fabulous soloists Danielle Louise Thomas, Aimee Clare and Steve Macfarlane plus the Rainford Brass Band, Archbishop Blanch School, The Centenary Theatre company and local actress and comic, Pauline Daniels.

The SingMe singers managed to squeeze into the conservatory to keep out of the rain to entertain all of the guests with a mix of songs and medleys. Everyone enjoyed the delicious range of cakes and treats inspired by the BBC Great British Bake Off. The event raised £600 for Macmillan and included a generous mystery donation from one of the guests. Thank you, Barbara, for inviting us along to take part in your wonderful event and thanks for the cake too!

IT'S (ALREADY) BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!

We may only be in November but the 2016 festive season has well and truly started for SingMe Merseyside! Throughout the year, there has been a steady stream of requests for us to perform at various Christmas events and we have found it very difficult to say no!

Subsequently, SingMe Merseyside will be delivering just less than 40 festive performances on the run up to Christmas 2016. This is fantastic news because it will enable us to spread Christmas cheer throughout Merseyside whilst raising more funds and awareness for our nominated charities. We started our Christmas journey on November 1st and 2nd when we appeared at this year's Wirral Festive Bazaar to entertain the shoppers exploring the fabulous stalls in the walled garden at Thornton Manor. The event helped to raise an amazing £34,000 for North West Cancer Research and we are extremely proud to have been part of this event. It was fantastic to see so many SingMe singers performing as well as sampling the delights on offer from the stalls even when a techincal issue literally left us in the dark on the first night!

Prep 4 Life

The ceremony was held at St Mary's Church in Withens Lane, Liscard to a full congregation of friends and family and then afterwards at New Brighton Cricket Club for the reception party where people could let their hair down. Alec is currently very poorly and undergoing treatment. He has heard the SingMe Choir perform on several occasions and also appreciates that the choir has provided friendship and support for Elaine during a difficult and traumatic period in their lives. This made this particular performance even more poignant and emotional. Congratulations once again to Elaine and Alec from all of us at SingMe Merseyside.

PERFORMANCE FROM THE HEART

again delivered an absolutely sterling performance. Prep 4 Life courses offer young people, aged 16 to 25, with learning difficulties or disabilities, the opportunity to develop independance and work skills that will help them in adult life. The students had the opportunity to demonstrate the skills they had acquired through the courses as they interacted with visitors, gave samples of food they had prepared plus sell handcrafted items. Overall, the shop helped to raise £275 for the project just within the 2 hour event which also featured Wirral Met College's very own signing choir. The students and staff were also delighted with taking numerous orders for handcrafted gifts ready for the festive season!

A mix of people from varying backgrounds, ages and abilities take part and join in with learning songs in preparation for an end of project performance to coincide with The Chinese New Year Celebrations. Participants are learning both Chinese and English language songs. The first session was a resounding success and was enjoyed by all who attended. SingMe Founder & Musical Director, Billy Hui and SingMe Choir Manager & Administrator, Wendy Williamson lead the sessions and are already enjoying the experience of working with this new group.

As part of the promotion for the event, we were invited along to join The Lord Mayor of Liverpool for a photo and video shoot. Many thanks to AB Photography for the fabulous images! This year, The Lord Mayor of Liveprool's charities are Claire House Children's Hospice, R Charity, Liverpool Heart Beat and Tom Harrison House. Tickets are now available from www.ticketquarter.co.uk or by calling 0844 8000 410.

Last month, it was fantastic to visit the staff and residents of Oakdene Nursing Home and Riversdale Care Home. We also had the opportunity to entertain the Harlequins Ladies Club members. Thank you to each and every one of the SingMe Merseyside singers in supporting our quest to bring music and joy into our local communites!
