SingMe Merseyside proudly presented their annual variety show 2016 at the Floral Pavilion Theatre, New Brighton on Friday 16th September. The chosen charity for this year was The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre & Charity and some fabulous volunteers from this organisation were at the theatre raising awareness and running the prize raffle from their stall in the theatre foyer. Thank you, Elspeth and crew! The show included several select guest artistes who all performed fantastically alongside a 100-strong SingMe Merseyside Choir. A massive thanks to vocalist, Steve Macfarlane, who has worked closely with SingMe Founder & Musical Director, Billy Hui, for the last decade. His rendition of Cry Me A River and Maria from West Side Story were particulalry memorable. A huge thanks also to Zi Lan Liao and John from Pagoda Arts for their beautiful and traditional Chinese music and dance performances.

SingMe Merseyside were invited along on Thursday 15th September by Liverpool ONE to perform alongside the fabulous award-winning Liverpool Signing Choir as part of the launch of brand new Beatles film "Eight Days A Week - The Touring Years". It was fantastic to be singing and signing some favourite Beatles songs to entertain the captivated audience.

A contingent of SingMe Merseyside Singers had a great time performing as part of the R Charity (Royal Liverpool University Hospital's official charity) City Centre Takeover! The rain just about managed to stay off for us as we entertained the shoppers

We didn't let the rain stop us and managed to trick the crowd into thinking that SingMe Merseyside Founder & Musical Director, Billy Hui was a tourist trying to play the piano whilst being harassed by a hen party before launching into our infamous Motown era Medley! Also, a fabulous bag-lady costume from SingMe Bebington member, Jean, who managed to pull a small audience before we started the set-up for the flashmob. A massive thanks to all of the SingMe singers and to SingMe New Brighton member, Kate Budworth, for being the hen on Saturday! As always, a great thanks to SingMe Class Leader and Administrator, Wendy Williamson for her exceptional organisational skills and for coming up with the idea for the hen party in the first place! Great fun was had by all and we managed to raise £244.70 for our chosen charity for this event.

This was SingMe Merseyside's 3rd annual appearance at the fantastic Egremont Festival on Wirral waterfront. The weather was fabulous and 80 members of the choir graced the stage in front of another appreciative audience! We performed some favourites from our repertoire including our unique SingMe medleys with the very popular Liverpool Songs Medley originally commissioned for the Blitz Commemoration event at the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.

It was fantastic to see Robert Southworth and Edwina with a fabulous excerpt from locally inspired production, "Moggies The Mewsical". Ian Kenyon, The Huyton Poet had the audience laughing away again this year with his unique and humorous stories and poems. A big thank you to husband and wife duo, Calli Hughes and Mark Hughes for an exhilarating perfomance of some fantastic songs including a mesmorising version of "Summertime" and upbeat rendition of Kiki Dee's "I Got The Music In Me". The main act was, of course, The SingMe Merseyside Choir. Each and every member of the choir gave yet another sterling performance and certainly did SingMe Founder & Musical Director, Billy Hui, very proud! Thank you so much. The audience feedback for the set of songs and medleys was fantastic - there was particular mention from many audience members that they thoroughly enjoyed our brand new West End Medley. Also, we would like to show our appreciation to SingMe Local Solutions member, Kevin Parker, for his incredible guitar skills during the instrumental solos for Bohemian Rhapsody and Mr Blue Sky!

"STYLE & CONFIDENCE"

Thank you to Gary Millar who enjoyed the show as an audience member at the same time as taking some wonderful photos for us. Finally, we must acknowledge and thank SingMe Class Leader and Administrator, Wendy Williamson, for her fantastic work for this year's variety show. She was at the theatre from lunchtime preparing the green room refreshments, allocating dressing rooms, displaying show running orders backstage plus assisted with the set up and direction for the show. During the performance, Wendy kept everything running completely smoothly backstage working alongside the choir, guest performers, the stage manager and of course, keeping Billy Hui in line! SingMe could not function without you, Wendy Williamson - a huge thank you to you! Next year's show is already being planned so watch this space!

A great time was had on Saturday 13th August by over 80 members of the SingMe Merseyside Choir during our 3rd appearance at this year's Tickle The Ivories Liverpool ONE Piano Festival. We performed to a fabulous audience at The Sugar House Steps who were singing and dancing along! The nominated charity for this event was RNIB and we helped to raise £288.66 during our 3 x 15 minute sets, which will go towards supporting people with sight loss. The Liverpool Loves Festival celebrates all things Liverpool over a 2 day set of events on the iconic Liveprool waterfront. Record numbers of visitors ran into the thousands as they all sampled Liverpool and Merseyside's diverse heritage and culture through arts, food, drink, music, dance, business and entertainment. SingMe Merseyside had the pleasure of opening the Main Festival Satge and following this up with a lively set on the CultureBox Stage. Thanks to Debbie Boyd and all at Orb Events for yet another fantastic event!
